PROJECT 1
Typosexual Typographic Exhibition -
Title and Key Artwork (Week 5 - Week 7)
PROJECT 2
Typosexual Typographic Exhibition - Collateral (Week 7 - Week 10)
FINAL PROJECT
Design, Exploration and Application (Week 9 - Week 13)
What : To create typefaces that can reflect the culture as well as the art of Malaysia
Why : From my research, I got to observe that the tourism logo of Malaysia seems like lack of the elements that could use to promote the culture as well as identity of Malaysia.
Solution : Use one of the art in Malaysia which is batik as my inspiration to create typefaces that can reflect the culture of Malaysia but also introduce the art of Malaysia at the same time.
Experiences : Throughout this 14 weeks, I went through a lot and I gain a lot too. I got to learn the 8 typographic systems and how to apply them to my artwork, finding type from the image between man-made objects, structures and nature, play around the text with the image, create my own key artwork and collaterals as well as designing a typeface to solve a problem. All of the project for this module considered challenging and time-consuming as I would need to take a lot of time to think for the idea as well as to complete it. There are also a lot of time that I have to stay late in order to complete the assignment, but is quite satisfy when I got to see the good results at last.
Observations : I observed that I have problem when it comes to design and create the typeface. Also, I loss my confidence as I'm unsure how to work on it. Although the results might not be that good, but I try my best to complete and learn something through the process so that I can improve myself for further project. From the feedbacks received, I also got to see some improvements in my artwork from one to another.
Findings : Design is not as easy as I think. A designer needs to go through a lot of critics and irritations in order to come out a good design. Sometimes, the instructions in the module outline may not be clear and cause the confusion. But, I should not scare to experiment and make mistakes on it. Instead, do more explorations and research would be help in understanding the requirements better. Moreover, I found that feedbacks are really useful for me to improve myself as I could know what is my weakness.
