FINAL PROJECT
Final Assessment (Week 6 - Week 7)
Week 6 (11/02/19 - 14/02/19)
This week, we found time and meet up as to discuss about the final outcome for this project. It took us a lot of time to think of the ideas as we want to make use the data we collected and applied them to the final design. From there, we manage to come up few different ideas which include postcards, collectible cards, tunnel book and laser cut artwork.
After discussing, we thought to go with the idea of creating collectible cards. Moving on from that, we proceed to think of the rationale and find some visual references for the cards.
Rationale of our idea :
[ Korea’s traditional colours and motifs are both significant parts of their culture, and it can be found in various places and things around the country.
Our concept is to showcase how colours and motifs work together harmoniously. Each colour has its own respective meaning. However, when you put these traditional colours together, it represents prosperity and an understanding of harmonisation with nature, to convey the importance of how harmony and nature hold in traditional Korean lifestyle.
Our idea to visually express this aspect of their culture is to design and create a set of collectible cards, each containing a colour from the obangsaek and ogansaek colour spectrum. One side of the card will include illustrations relating to the Korean culture, while the other side of the card will have lines on them which can be placed together with the other cards to form a motif, like a puzzle.
Through this, we can educate people on Korea’s culture, and show how colours and motifs work harmoniously with one another through the “puzzle”. If a card were to be left out, it may not form a complete motif and display all of the colours. All the traditional colours are needed to best represent their culture. ]

Week 6 (15/02/19)
In today's class, we got to consult and share our idea to Mr Charles. He said that it looks interesting and he likes our idea. He also gave us some feedbacks where we could make it better. With the feedbacks received, we proceed to list out the things that we need to work on : 25 cards with a motif and illustration, a board to display the cards, a box packaging and a booklet.

During weekends, we continue our progress by drawing out the motif to be used on the back of our cards. For this, we all agreed to do it individually and finalised the design in our next meet up.

Week 7 (18/02/19 - 21/02/19)
This Friday will be the presentation day of our final outcome. Therefore, we have to use our time wisely as to make sure everything completed by time. We also got to split the tasks among us as to ensure our progress works effectively.

Week 7 (22/02/19)
It's the presentation day and we got to present our final artwork to both of our lecturers.
Here are some images of the final artwork by my group below :
Lastly, here is the compilation slides of all of our project below :

FEEDBACK
Week 6 : Mr Charles said our idea is interesting and he likes it. Other than that, we were told to create more cards instead of 10 cards. Also, he suggested us to create a motif that can be play by the audience.
REFLECTION
Experiences :
Week 6 : With the data collected from Korea, we were required to think of the ideas for our final outcome this week. Hence, my group members and I found time to meet up for discussion. At first, we had difficulties to express our data visually into a design since we didn't know where to start. But, we manage to come up more ideas after some time of discussion and researching.
Week 7 : We got to start working on the final artwork as the submission day is on this Friday. Hence, we split the tasks among us to ensure all the progress works well.
Observations :
Week 6 : I realised the ideation part is always the hardest as we need to make sure the outcome could relate back to what we define for the topic as well as the data we collected.
Week 7 : After completing this project, I noticed it is important to have a meaning or purpose behind an artwork. Thus, we need to interpret and define the meaning for what we want to do at the first stage. Then, use it as a guideline to do research and come up with a concept before designing the artwork.
Findings :
Week 6 : I learned that we should always look back our proposal and data collection while thinking of the ideas as to ensure it relates back to our research objectives.
Week 7 : Through this module, my group members and I manage to come up a design that is inspired from our real life research which we did not experience before. Also, we managed to have a better understanding on Korean traditional colours and motifs with the research done in these seven weeks.
